Stylist of the Month
Congratulations to our Stylist of the Month for June, Carolyn "Cari" Smith! She cuts at our Broadmoor salon located in Grand Rapids, MI! We caught up with Cari this month to ask her a few questions about her journey at Lady Jane's.
LJ: As a Wicked Awesome STYLIST, what's your favorite part about cutting hair at LJ?
CARI: The independence of being my own hair artist. We all bring something a little bit different to the table and the fact that we are not forced to be anyone but ourselves.
LJ: Since sports is such a large part of the LJ experience, what's your favorite sports team & why?
CARI: MSU Spartans because who doesn't love a good underdog story?
LJ: What type of music do you listen to?
CARI: Music is a huge part of my life. I listen to all different genres. I love the classics like Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, and anything Robert Plant touches is pure gold. I enjoy dance music, especially 90's and EDM. I admire artists that stay true to themselves and don't sell out because of their fame.
LJ: What do you enjoy?
CARI: Ice cream, walking on sandy beaches, classic cars, animals (especially my cat, Manny), and spending time with my fam.
LJ: Scissor cuts or clipper cuts?
CARI: Both! I love the clean lines that clippers give clients but also love to be able to customize a cut with scissors.
LJ: What is your favorite LJ product for guys to use?
CARI: Matte Separation Wax mixed with a touch of Pure Texture. It creates the perfect messy look with a great hold.
LJ: What's your 10 second pitch on why LJ is the ONLY place for a guy to get his haircut?
CARI: You will leave happy and feeling confident after every haircut!
LJ: If you had a motto to live by, what would it be and why?
CARI: Always be yourself and the rest will fall into place. If you aren't true to yourself, you will never be truly happy. It's what makes us all unique and there's so much beauty in loving ourselves for our individuality.
LJ: And lastly, what lead you to become a cosmetologist?
CARI: I loved the idea of a job with a lot of freedom. I've always been creative and it just felt right. I've never regretted it and I love my job and the flexibility it gives me.
